I Can See Now

My true account of how a head injury changed my paranormal perception

By: Sam Little

I have been involved with the field of paranormal research for well over a decade now. I have attended countless investigations, written heaps of articles for a number of websites, spoken publically about my work, and even aided high school students in a variety of projects and presentations. For the longest time my work had been getting attention all the while there was a fact behind the scenes that no one would have ever believed. In all the while I had worked in the field I had never seen a ghost or any anomaly with my own eyes. Sure, I had pictures and other forms of evidence but I had never been able to see these things for myself. This was a problem that I had grown to hate. My ability to sense paranormal activity was not were it should have been either. Others were able to feel the spirits and such but I was only able to do this a few times here and there. In a sadistic twist of fate al of that would change.

I have always been adament about the pursuit of things I love. As a child I loved every aspect of professional wrestling and swore that I would do it one day. For 13 years my friends, brothers, and who ever I could get to come would wrestle in our backyard, developing matches ad story lines I was professionally trained at an early age than most and from there the desire only grew. I along with my brother ad my best friend entered into a contract with a promotion called the CWA. Not the wrestling empire we had dreamed but a suitable stepping stone none the less. One day while at training a member of the fed, the owner to be exact, felt intimidated by the new guys and decided to scare us. He wanted to plant me high on my shoulders, but underestimated his lack of coordination and the result was a head first drop from about 7 foot to a mat that only had a half inch of padding. Needless to say I was not OK. I suffered a fractured skull and a huge blood clot on the right side of my brain. (correct term is sub dermal hemotoba of the right hemisphere) I spent three long days in a coma and woke up with a series of screws and plates that literally held my skull in place. I was told I would be in the hospital's care for several months and a full recovery would not be obtainable due to the severe nature of the injury. One week after I was omitted, I walked out and returned home. While I never fully recovered the outcome would be a shock to even me.

It was quite a delay before I could return to my second passion, which was paranormal research. The first of my passions was done, I would never wrestle again. I returned to the field of paranormal research by investigating claims of a haunting at a local grave yard. Suddenly I was having feelings that I never had before. I could sense things around me much better than I had ever done. To be honest it was a scary experience as I have always felt in control but at this moment I felt as if I was anything but that. I would feel these presences and snap a photo and almost every time I would get something strange in the picture. This was a new thing for me and I have to admit I rather liked it. I felt like those researchers you always read about, Holzer, Taylor, and the such. While I enjoyed my new ability I could not explain it. The idea that my head injury created this new ability. I had read that near death moments can trigger such actions. I did die twice on the operating table so that could have been the cause. It would be sometime before the full capabilities of my new talent would be shown to me.

We fast forward a bit to my investigation of Skull Hollow. This home had been talked about and a video was made by several locals showcasing various paranormal phenomena. I was called in with my team and did not hesitate to make venture into the location. While setting up some camera equipment alongside than tech director Brandon B. I noticed a draft. Suddenly and without any warning our gear encountered an enormous battery drain and than we saw it. A full body shadow ghost! It simply looked at us with a smile that did not strike fear as much as good will and than walked into a bedroom next to us. I quickly snapped a photo and than my camera went dead on me. Had both of us not seen the same thing I would have sworn I imagined the whole deal. I had finally after several long years attempting to do so, seen a ghost with my own eyes.

I would eventually see an orb fly by at another location and from there my perception got better with each investigation I attended. While discussing these events with DPRT member Derek M. the head injury theory arose again. I have always heard that traumatic events can cause one to be more in tuned with the world around them but reading and experiencing are two separate things. There are many stories out there on this same topic and DPRT would love to hear some. If you or anyone you know have had such an experience as a result of a head injury please inform us of it by writing to DravenstarPRT Happy hunting!!!!
