Reasons why ghost stay on Earth

Since the first sighting of a ghost one question has remained a constant in the field of paranormal research. That question is why do they stay on Earth? This question has spawned many possible responses and some of those are even more perplexing than the initial question itself. There are several possibilities for why spirits and entities stick around when they may not have to and in this article I want to get into those reasons. So let's try to explain why ghosts choose or are forced to keep their address listed as Earth.
Reasons Ghosts Stick Around
- To relay a message-This could be something as simple as informing the living that death is not so bad, or that it is horrible. The message could be a warning of something that will come to past, as in the death of a loved one or a new job opportunity that will come to someone. The message could even be a tip on something. For instance there have been many cases in which a ghost has told a living being a tip in the stock market and that tip has led to great fortune. Of course we can not verify that the tip actually came from a ghost.
- To make a confession-Even guilt can carry over into the world of the dead. Some spirits return to the world of the living to confess something they did while they were alive. This could be a crime such as murder, or even something as small as stealing a piece of jewelry. Cases have been reported where the ghost told of a love it had denied it self in life. At least three cases I have came upon in my reading mentioned ghost who returned to tell that the way their death had looked was not as it was. One was a supposed suicide who actually died of an accidental overdose.
- To seek a proper burial-Some ghost may return because their remains have not been treated the right way. This is the basis for the film "Poltergeist" and has been the basis for countless ghost tales throughout the ages. This reason could be because the person wanted buried and was not or that their remains have been disturbed. Disturbance varies from actually being dug up to the grave marker being damaged.
- To act as a guardian This could mean two things. The entity could be guarding a treasure or an item they feel obligated to protect or they could in fact be guarding an individual or group of individuals. Many people feel they have a guardian angel who keeps them from harm. It may be the spirit of a deceased loved one as opposed to an angel that does this for them.
- Died to quick-This sounds weird but it is a long thought of reason in the field of paranormal research. A person is killed and they have died so quickly that they do not realize they are dead and therefore they are stuck on this plane of existence. The ghost may learn of it's true state but by then it has no idea how to reach the next plane.
- Revenge-This is a very disturbing reason and is in fact one of the most dreaded in the field. A great example of this is Anne Walker. She was murdered and her spirit returned to guide police to her body and the men who committed the crime. The story was assumed the basis for the film "Glass Doll". Revenge could be for murder or even a lie that was told in life.
