When Bad Ghost Go Good

The positive effects of personal EVPs

By: Sam Little

Every researcher will in time be confronted with a situation in which an ethical and morale approach is needed. Whether it is to tell a ghost that it is dead, or to tell a client the shadow they see at night is their child going to the kitchen to steal a beer, these situations have to be addressed. These situations can go as far as aiding a ghost to getting to the other side. While these decisions are troubling they still must be faced.

Dravenstar had a situation somewhat like this at Skull Hollow. I guess I should start from the beginning. Skull Hollow is home to the abandoned house of Bill Johnson. This house served as one of the most memorable cases we have worked on. Our first few visits were anything but inviting in fact I would say that they were the complete opposite. The house seemed to be thick with a feeling of dread and we were greeted with loud bangs and the slamming of doors.

Despite old Bill's efforts we continued to follow through with the investigation. We suffered battery drains and even one researcher was grabbed on the arm and pulled. It was only after an EVP session carried out by assistant director Elyse Ogden did old Bill calm a little. After this session the house seemed inviting and we actually felt welcomed. Bill actually began showing himself in different ways and the loud knocks were gone. They were replaced by the door opening and shutting as it would if a person were casually coming into the room.

What was it about this EVP session that changed the way things were going?

I thought you would never ask. When Elyse conducts EVP she does not follow typical standards most teams do. She strives to make the EVP session feel less like an interview and more like a casual conversation. It seems to make the spirits feel a bit easier toward us and gets great results. She asks questions about the spirit's life, their likes and how they feel emotionally. She really gives them a friendly approach and it seems to work rather well.

After her EVP Bill was more hospitable actually moving things in direct view of several researchers and becoming more audible on recordings. It was a method that did the trick. What is the lesson of this small article? Simple! Be nice to the spirits and show them respect. Even a bad tempered one may change after a little care is shown their way. Never insult and criticize the entity. I hope this helps, happy hunting.
